Boudicca Wode – Sensuous Warfare

Boudicca has made history: the design house was the first independent British fashion label to be officially invited to become a guest member of Haute Couture in Paris, where Boudicca presented its first collection in 2007 to rave reviews. The label’s name comes from the British warrior queen Boudicca who in 60 AD led a revolt against the Roman occupiers. Legend has it that she would march into battle wearing cobalt blue paint on her skin.

Wode is designed for a tribe of fearless expressionists dedicated to the adventure of a multi-sensory experience. The name is derived from woad, an intense blue plant extract used by the ancient Britons to paint themselves with tribal markings. “Scent too marks you as one of a tribe,” says Zowie Broach of BOUDICCA, “but its uniqueness is that it marks you invisibly.”

The fragrance was created by the Berlin-based perfumer Geza Schön, who also pays tribute to the warrior queen in his creation:  when finally defeated by the Romans, Boudicca committed suicide by swallowing hemlock, an extract of which is included in the heart note of this fragrance.
